The third installment in the character vocal series, Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ), was released on January 30, 2009. Her surname combines Meguri (巡 Circulate) and Ne (音 Sound). Luka’s voice is that of a twenty-year-old female and she can sing in both Japanese and English. However, unlike previous mascots in the series, her costume is not based on a school uniform.
